Divorce and the impact on children
Does divorce impact children’s sentimental relationships as an adult? Or being raised in a divorced family does not have any influence on the sentimental...
I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic until I came to the United States with my parents at age 13. Leaving my friends and family behind was heartbreaking and it took me a while to adapt.
Because we settled in the Bronx, NY which is predominantly Hispanic, learning English was extremely challenging. But I was raised by a “wonder woman” who taught me that giving up was not an option and constantly reminded me that the reason we came here was not merely to survive but to accomplish the American dream.
An extrovert by nature, I was always drawn to the arts. I took Dancing lessons and competed in talent shows. I went to modeling schools, and took art classes. During my many visits to Times Square I dreamed of seeing myself in one of those giant billboards. Through the years, I kept trying different things in the pursuit of finding my passion and purpose.
Being exposed to so many different career paths and hobbies, and with the help of my family and friends, I finally discovered a true passion for uplifting others. My Friends and family often came to me for advice and encouraged me to become a therapist. So after High School, I enrolled in college to pursue a career in psychology.
Four years later, excited about graduation, I was faced with yet another challenge-COVID. I applied to different roles but I was turned down each time. This pushed me into a deep depression. I felt like my life had no meaning and I didn’t know how I was going to get out of this negative rut. Until one day I decided to get up and start making videos.
I created a YouTube channel and started to share my own journey in the hope of helping guide others. My videos were made with the intention of bringing awareness to all the challenges underrepresented communities face when attempting to get a higher education. And how to build the right network to be exposed to the best job opportunities.
Today, I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with two minors in Sociology and Human Resources respectively. My biggest passion is to help guide our youth towards the pursuit of their own dreams, using my own life experiences and credentials. I know together we can build a better and brighter tomorrow for future generations.
